The risks of not having an executive coach

High performance in the first 90 days of a new position is critical. First impressions are extremely important. Without an executive coach, the ramp-up time can be much longer. I’ve seen executives muddle through their initial weeks, creating bad first impressions that are never turned around. Early mistakes can permanently damage an executive’s reputation. If mistakes are made, disillusionment with a promotion can set in, and at a certain point, the new executive may regret having taken the position at all.

The risks of not planning for your first 90 days include:

  • Creating negative first impressions
  • Confusion about the new role and responsibilities
  • Misunderstanding new priorities
  • Disenchantment and isolation with the new position
